CONSORTIUM—Spanish companies awarded 39% contracts of South African REFIT's first phase

The Spain & Southern Africa Renewable Energy Consortium has reaped the first benefits of its commitment to the Souther African market after about a year and a half of hard work and after the definitive momentum of the Spanish brand.

The announcement of selected projects in the first tender, within the framework of the Durban Conference to fight Climate Change, has highlighted South Africa’s commitment to renewable energy and the importance that Spanish industry has, in order to achieve this commitement, since Spain has risen as the big winner of the tender, in a highly competitve, with about 39% of the allocated power, particularly with 552. 13 MW in nine projects with an investiment exceeding 1.5 billion euros.

It is also estimated that, thanks to the award of such projects, the business of these companies increased by more than 1 billion euros over the next three years.

The most important thing of the three awards for the Spanish industry is no longer the victory achieved, but to acquire a strategic postitioning towards the future development of renewable energy in South Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa collectively.
