A Spanish consortium formed by engineering services provider Sener, engineering firm TSK and renewable energy company Acciona has announced the commissioning of a 160 MW CSP plant in Ourazazate, southern Morocco.

The project relies on Sener’s cylindrical parabolic troughs. The consortium broke ground on the plant in May 2015. The project, named Noor I, is part of the Ouarzazate CSP complex, which will host tow more CSP plants, the Noor II (200 MW) and Noor III (150 MW). Saudi energy company ACWA Power and Sener were awarded the contract to build the plants by Moroccan Agency for Solar Energy (MASEN) in January 2015.
